Highlights:
  • We reviewed multiples in math and played a quick game of "pop" to practise.
  • We were efficient with Friday Journals - please have a look at the the details of our week.

Highlights:
  • The Terry Fox Run was a success today despite the cool temperatures.  We had some conversations about How Terry Said "Something" powerful with his actions and inspirational quotes.  


 

  • We had fun practicing division strategies (standard division and partial quotient division) writing on the windows.
  • We read the book, "I am NOT a Number" by Jenny Kay Dupuis & Kathy Kacer.  The book is based upon a true story about the treatment in residential schools.  Orange shirt day is on Tuesday October 1st and we are encouraging students to wear an orange shirt.  It is important for them to understand why we are wearing orange and the deeper meaning.

Highlights:
  • We continued our leaf scavenger hunt outside and created a few visual vocabulary cards for producer, consumer and decomposer.
  • Our math concept card for today was about Partial Quotient Division.  Initially a few found this strategy difficult.  After attempting a few times, this strategy made sense, was easy and simple.
  • Ended our day watching a quick video about Terry Fox and started a visual journal page.  "Anything's possible if you try."

Highlights:
  • We had our vaccinations today!
  • We reviewed ordering decimals from least to greatest by arranging ourselves as the place value digits.
  • Our Pop Art Portraits and Quotes are finished.  They look AMAZING and we are so excited to share at the Open House!
  • Through the lens of an artist, we learned about the Layers of the Forest and started sketching trees like real artist do.

  • We reviewed ordering decimals from least to greatest and added a card to our math concept cards.  We put our math review from the first week of school in our binders - please take a look at the Open House to see how your child did.
  • Finishing our Pop Art and finding our "inspirational' quotes. were priorities today.

Highlights:
  • We started our Friday Journal which should have come home for the weekend.  Friday Journal is an opportunity for your child to share about their learning in class on a consistent basis.  Please read the letter that is included in the journal and initial.
  • We started our Pop Art based on work done by Roy Lichtenstein.  They look amazing so far!  Watch the video about his work and our inspiration for this art piece.

Highlights:
We had a wonderful morning at the pond sketching and observing coniferous and deciduous trees.  From the viewpoint of a Dendrologist, students observed the leaves and details of the trees. 

 
  • What is the name of that one tree we were discussing? (Hint: Picture below)  It looses its leaves and is a coniferous tree
  • We started an exciting art piece based on pop art created by an artist named Roy Lichtenstein.  Think of a quote that speaks to you and you find inspirational.  Be ready to share your quote after the weekend.

Highlights:

  • We had gym and music today!
  • We talked more about the methuselah tree and we are going for a walk to the pond tomorrow morning.  Please dress appropriately!
  • We read a book called "Belle's Journey focusing on the "questioning" reading strategy.
  • We created a few math concept cards (adding some tools to our toolbox)
  • We had our first fire drill of the year and it was successful.
